Sisa is a transgender woman, who lives with her family in their homestead in rural Lesotho. At 42 years old, Sisa – or “Gogo”, as she more affectionately known – is one of the country’s few older and openly transgender people. In this documentary, put together by Carl Collison for Beyond the Margins, Sisa speaks about her struggles growing up in a time when there was little information around being transgender and her lack of access to gender-affirming care, but also the little things she does to affirm herself.
