Later this month, as part of Beyond the Margins’ ‘In Conversation’ series, we will publish a discussion between the founders of queer-focused arts collectives and residencies in various parts of Africa. One of those is Botswana’s Banana Club. Now in its fifth year, the initiative has morphed from a “discussion space… into a collective committed to creating visibility and inclusion for marginalised communities”. Produced by Banana Emoji Productions, this documentary follows the club’s “quest to move ground” through its various projects: film projects, a self-funded artist residency, corporate collaborations and community work in the more remote areas of this Southern African country.
