
On April 3, 2024, Uganda’s Constitutional Court upheld the provisions of the 2023
Anti-Homosexuality Act. The penalties for consensual same-sex conduct in Uganda include a decade in prison, life imprisonment, and even the death penalty. Radio Workshop collaborated with a reporter in Kampala to produce an audio documentary about a trans woman whose arrest caused a rift between her and her mother. In this episode, we hear how this radically changed the course of their lives – and how her mom unexpectedly became an LGBTIQA+ ally.
